Frequently Asked Questions
How accurate is the DHT11, and can I upgrade it later?
The DHT11 reads temperature within ±2°C and humidity within ±5% RH, which is great for learning and indoor comfort monitoring. If you need better accuracy and a wider range later, the DHT22 drops into the same wiring and code with a one-line change.
Can the BMP280 really estimate altitude?
Yes. Air pressure falls predictably with height, so the BMP280 can estimate altitude to within about a metre when you set the current sea-level pressure. It is the same principle used in drone altimeters and hiking watches.
Can I log weather data to the internet with this kit?
The Nano itself has no network, but you can log readings over USB serial to a computer, or later swap in an ESP8266 or ESP32 board to push data to ThingSpeak or Blynk. The sensors and display work exactly the same on those boards.
Can I run this weather station outdoors?
The sensors are not waterproof, so keep them in a sheltered, ventilated enclosure if you mount the station outside. A simple vented plastic box with shade from direct sun gives good results and protects the electronics.
